The first time I took the ACT—in my junior year at Franklin High School—I didn’t do much prep. I figured, Hey, I’ve always done well in school. This will be fine.
I walked out with a 31. Not bad. But when I started looking at college scholarships, I found out that a 35 or 36 could mean a full ride. Tens of thousands of dollars for a couple more points.
That’s when it clicked: this wasn’t just another test. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I knew I had it in me to score higher, but I also knew getting there would mean working harder—and smarter—than I ever had in my life.
So I treated the ACT like it was a language I had to become fluent in.
I immersed myself in the test:
Hundreds of hours of focused prep.
Dozens of practice tests under real conditions.
Dissecting patterns in questions until I could anticipate what was coming next.
That’s where my background in learning other languages kicked in—by that point, I was fluent in French and proficient in Japanese. Language study teaches you to see patterns others miss, and the ACT has its own grammar, vocabulary, and rhythm. I learned to “think” in ACT.
Two more sittings later, I hit a 35—the scholarship line. But by then, I wasn’t done. I wanted to see just how far I could push myself.
Two more tries, and I hit it: 36. Perfect score.
That score earned me a full-tuition scholarship and set me firmly on my college path to valedictorian, two degrees, and learning five additional languages.

Since 2018, I’ve been helping students raise their ACT scores. Along the way, I noticed something: the needs of already high-achieving students (27–33 range) are totally different from the average test-taker.
The usual test-prep approach is like teaching grammar to someone who’s already fluent.
My program skips the “beginner stuff” and goes straight to the advanced patterns, pacing micro-gains, and precision drills that move you from “great” to “elite.”
Elite Score Academy combines:
The blueprint I used to get a perfect score
Proven pattern recognition training inspired by language learning
Mental health and fitness techniques to manage the stress of preparation and ease test day nerves
Unique strategies for each test section tailored to high-achieving students
